If you’re as far from energetic in the morning as I am, you know simply pouring the kids a bowl of cereal is the lazy way out. I’m here to give you a recipe that can be made ahead of time that’s both delicious and easy to pop into the microwave before you plop onto the couch with your coffee; I call them French Toast Nuggets.

These finger foods are a delicious breakfast or snack for little kids. They are a fun way to serve a traditional dish and are the perfect size for little hands that are learning to eat. They are also soft, making them perfect for Baby Led Weaning.

We love French toast nuggets around here! I mean, what’s not to love about them? They are delicious, fun to eat, easy to make, and honestly a total crowd favorite. They are the perfect size for little hands so they can grab and dip them in maple syrup or eat them as is.

French Toast Nuggets

Just like all French toast, they are super soft (kind of like a custard) so they are perfect for babies that are learning to eat by themselves.

If your kids are older they will also love to help you make them. The recipe is easy so once they help you a couple of times they could then make them alone.

They can be made with very little added sugar. I don’t add any cinnamon sugar but just use whole wheat bread dipped in egg, milk, and maple syrup. They are naturally sweetened and packed with whole grain to fill up a child’s ever-hungry belly.

How to store French toast Nuggets:

I always make them in advance when I have some extra time. I like to double the batch and store some in the refrigerator to have some ready-to-go snacks. Eat at home or on the go, these French Toast Sticks are a parent’s best friend to keep your kid’s fuel tanks full.
